The process
How a China sourcing project works, from brief to shipment.
Eight steps, adapted to each project. Not every project needs every step, and LYBAM does not promise a fixed turnaround time: it tells you what it can confirm and what still needs confirming at each stage.
The eight steps
What you provide, what LYBAM does and what you receive.
- 1
Brief
Tell us what you need.
- You provide
- A product idea, a photo, a link or a description; the quantity range and the destination market; any branding wishes.
- LYBAM does
- Reads the brief and asks only the questions that change the answer: quantity, market, branding, timing.
- You receive
- A clear scope and a list of what is still needed.
- 2
Discovery
We search for matching products and suppliers.
- You provide
- Nothing more at this stage.
- LYBAM does
- Searches the suppliers it already works with and the catalogue of listed ranges, then widens the search for products that are not listed.
- You receive
- Candidate products and the suppliers behind them.
- 3
Screening
We check before we recommend.
- You provide
- Tell us what matters most: specification fit, documents for your market, branding options.
- LYBAM does
- Reviews export capability, the documentation on file and the authenticity of product photography for each candidate. This is a documentation review, not a certified factory audit.
- You receive
- A shortlist with the facts and the gaps stated plainly.
- 4
Quote and samples
Compare prices and evaluate a sample.
- You provide
- Choose the candidates and the quantities you want priced.
- LYBAM does
- Requests quotations and coordinates sample requests with the supplier. Sample cost and shipping terms are set by the supplier and confirmed per request.
- You receive
- Pricing for your project and, where relevant, a sample to evaluate before you commit.
- 5
Customisation and packaging
Branding and packaging, confirmed per product.
- You provide
- Your logo, packaging or private-label requirement, and artwork if you have it.
- LYBAM does
- Asks the specific supplier what is possible for that specific product and at what minimum quantity. Artwork design itself is not a LYBAM service.
- You receive
- Confirmed options, not category-wide assumptions.
- 6
Order and production
One team stays involved through manufacturing.
- You provide
- An approved sample and a confirmed order.
- LYBAM does
- Coordinates with the supplier through the production run and follows up on questions as they come up.
- You receive
- A production run that someone on the China side is actively following.
- 7
Quality and documents
Quality questions and paperwork, followed up.
- You provide
- Tell us which inspection you want, including a paid third-party inspection if you prefer one.
- LYBAM does
- Follows up quality questions and can help coordinate third-party inspection. Compliance status is only upgraded once supporting evidence is on file.
- You receive
- Findings and documents you can rely on, with their status stated by document type.
- 8
Shipment and follow-up
Goods leave China on the terms you chose.
- You provide
- Your destination, preferred shipping terms (EXW, FOB, CIF or DDP) and your freight forwarder if you have one.
- LYBAM does
- Coordinates shipment with freight forwarders and follows up after the order. Customs clearance and duty in the destination country remain the buyer's responsibility.
- You receive
- Goods shipped on your terms, and a contact who knows the project.
A good brief
What helps us answer fast.
- What the product is, with a photo or link if you have one
- Quantity range, or whether you want a trial order first
- Destination market (it decides which documents matter)
- Branding or packaging requirements
- Target timing and any target price range
Missing something? Send what you have. A photo or a link is enough to start.
Boundaries
What LYBAM does not do.
- LYBAM does not manufacture: it works for the buyer on the China side
- It does not issue certificates; certification status is confirmed per product and per document type
- It does not clear customs or pay duty in your destination country
- It does not design artwork; packaging execution is coordinated with the supplier
- It does not negotiate with suppliers you already work with, unless you ask for a new sourcing project
